Site Manager – Contract Cleaning (Food Processing)

About the role

The Site Manager will lead the hygiene cleaning team at a food processing factory in City Deep, Johannesburg. This position ensures that cleaning operations meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and cost‑effectiveness while supporting the client’s production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Drive a service‑excellence culture and deliver professional, value‑adding cleaning services.
• Manage budget, authorise expenditures and maintain accurate financial records.
• Source cost‑effective equipment and consumables from suppliers.
• Oversee ordering, stock control, and safe handling of hygiene chemicals and dosing equipment.
• Maintain detailed cleaning schedules, SOPs and conduct compliance audits.
• Support Technical & QA teams with sample collection and microbiological investigations.
• Provide training, competency assessments and emergency spill response training for all hygiene staff.
• Ensure adherence to legislative, health & safety, and environmental policies.
• Recruit, induct, develop and manage performance of cleaning personnel.
• Foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a hygiene cleaning team in a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning chemicals, dosing equipment and safety data sheets.
• Ability to manage budgets, procurement and stock control effectively.
• Excellent communication, leadership and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and compliance auditing.
