Site Engineer – TBM and Underground Equipment

About the role

A specialist in mechanised mining and underground tunnelling is looking for a Site Engineer in Potchefstroom to work with advanced Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) technology in a hands-on engineering environment. The role keeps TBMs and underground mining equipment running safely and reliably, leads engineering teams and ensures compliance with mining safety legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Keep TBMs and underground mining equipment running safely and reliably
• Lead engineering teams, maintenance planning and breakdown support
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
• Improve equipment performance, reliability and uptime
• Ensure compliance with mining safety legislation

Required profile

• Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical, Mining or related Engineering
• Minimum 5 years' underground mining or tunnelling engineering/maintenance experience
• At least 3 years' supervisory experience
• Medically fit for underground work and a valid driver's licence

Required skills

• Strong practical knowledge of heavy mining equipment, hydraulics, electrical systems and fault-finding
• Experience with TBMs or mechanised tunnelling equipment is a strong advantage

The position is permanent and pays a market-related salary open to discussion, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
