About the role

Valterra Platinum is seeking a Safety, Health, Hygiene and Environment (SHE) Manager for its Amandelbult Mine in Thabazimbi. The role oversees the full spectrum of SHE responsibilities, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the SHE and permitting teams to deliver on company SHE strategies.
• Promote continuous improvement through communication, coaching, and collaborative relationships.
• Implement and improve SHE systems adapted to the mining environment.
• Manage the SHE function budget, cost control, staff capability and performance assessments.
• Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and manage long‑term risk controls.
• Develop improvement plans aligned with strategic imperatives.
• Report SHE performance to site leadership and meet legal and business reporting requirements.
• Conduct SHE risk & assurance audits, incident investigations, and operational audit schedules.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead SHE teams in an operational setting.
• Experience managing SHE budgets and performance metrics.
• Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control processes.
