Services Technician

About the role

The Services Technician delivers high‑quality on‑site installation, maintenance and fault diagnosis for environmental measurement systems and sensors used by Campbell Scientific Africa’s customers across South Africa and the wider region. The role combines field work (at least 60% of the time) with collaboration with sales and delivery teams to ensure reliable operation of equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site installation of Campbell Scientific and third‑party equipment, including tower erection, bracket assembly, wiring, armoured‑cable termination and conduit work.
• Carry out scheduled maintenance visits, troubleshoot faults and diagnose issues on environmental monitoring systems.
• Install dataloggers, configure software and set up communication methods (Ethernet, serial, cellular, radio).
• Train customers on equipment operation, maintenance and best practices.
• Document activities in company systems and adhere to health‑and‑safety protocols.
• Support technical tickets, translate field experience into actionable feedback for product teams.

Required profile

• Willingness to travel extensively across South Africa and other African countries, including overnight stays.
• Ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively with internal teams.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
