Senior US Tax Accountant – Night Shift (Remote, Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking a high‑caliber U.S. tax expert to join a New York‑based tax‑focused firm as a full‑time independent contractor. The role is remote, operates on a night‑shift schedule aligned with Eastern Time, and requires exclusive commitment to the position.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns, focusing on real‑estate and multi‑entity structures.
• Handle advanced tax topics such as cost segregation studies, 1031 exchanges, installment sales, and passive‑activity rules.
• Identify missing information, manage recurring and new tasks, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines and budget expectations.
• Communicate open items clearly with senior accountants, project managers, admin teams, and clients.
• Maintain accurate workpapers, avoid duplicate document requests, and resolve book‑to‑tax mismatches.
• Support additional compliance work including 1099 preparation, payroll, sales tax, and other flat‑fee engagements.

Required profile

• U.S. tax professional with extensive experience preparing individual, partnership, and corporate returns.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and commit exclusively to a full‑time contractor role.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction.
