Senior Trade Advisor – Water & Industries

About the role

The Danish Embassy in Pretoria seeks a dynamic Senior Trade Advisor focused on water and industrial sectors. You will join the Economic Diplomacy team to strengthen commercial cooperation between Denmark and South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop commercial opportunities for Danish companies in South Africa and the broader Southern African region, with a focus on water, value‑chain efficiency and industrial sectors.
• Provide advisory services throughout the business development cycle, from market analysis to partnership facilitation with public and private stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects independently from inception to completion, ensuring delivery against annual consultancy income targets.
• Collaborate with the Economic Diplomacy team to attract private‑sector investment and support Danish exporters.

Required profile

• Proven experience in trade, business development or commercial advisory within water, industry or related sectors.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to work autonomously on complex projects.
• Extensive network among South African public and private stakeholders is a strong advantage.
• Excellent stakeholder‑management and communication skills.
