Senior Tax Specialist

About the role

The Senior Tax Specialist ensures accurate, timely, and compliant execution of payroll tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions. You will act as the subject‑matter expert on tax legislation, manage statutory submissions, and support the organisation through proactive stakeholder engagement and continuous process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily tax administration activities in line with policies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare, review, reconcile and submit monthly PAYE returns to SARS, Namibia and Botswana within prescribed deadlines.
• Compile and submit annual tax reconciliations, returns and statutory reports accurately and on time.
• Ensure bi‑annual tax submissions and regulatory filings are completed in accordance with legislation.
• Provide specialist tax support and resolve complex tax queries within agreed service levels.
• Monitor compliance with tax legislation and proactively mitigate tax risks.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance compliance, governance and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of proven experience in tax specialist or tax administration roles, preferably in a large or complex corporate environment.
• Strong experience in payroll taxation, PAYE administration, statutory submissions, reconciliations and compliance reporting.
• Extensive knowledge of SARS legislation, tax regulations, audits and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing tax matters across South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and advise internal and external stakeholders on complex tax issues.
• Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.
