Senior Specialist Technology Governance

About the role

M-Pesa Africa is seeking a Senior Specialist in Technology Governance to ensure that its technology operations are reliable, compliant, and aligned with strategic objectives. The role bridges technology, audit, risk, and compliance functions, providing independent assurance and driving continuous improvement across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct governance reviews of technology services, programmes, and vendors.
• Apply established frameworks such as COBIT, ISO 27001, and ITIL to assess control adherence.
• Identify, document, and remediate key technology risks, control gaps, and operational vulnerabilities.
• Partner with Risk and Compliance teams to define mitigation plans and ensure audit readiness.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of IT policies and control frameworks across all technology domains.
• Track and report control performance metrics and compliance scores.
• Prepare governance dashboards and insights for executive leadership.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technology governance, risk, and compliance within a large‑scale fintech or similar environment.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with technology leaders, risk owners, and external auditors.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills to promote governance awareness across the organisation.
