Senior Software Engineer – TypeScript & PostgreSQL

About the role

iOCO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a hybrid team in Cape Town on a six‑month contract. You will work on both greenfield initiatives and existing systems, using a Supabase + TypeScript stack to deliver high‑quality backend and full‑stack features.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend and full‑stack features on Supabase with TypeScript.
• Balance new development with extensions of existing production systems.
• Implement authentication and access control integrated with Microsoft Entra ID.
• Own CI/CD pipelines and repository workflows using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• Leverage Claude Code to accelerate delivery and ensure code quality.
• Collaborate daily with engineers, product owners, and stakeholders across South Africa and Europe.
• Contribute to technical decisions, tooling, processes, and standards as the engineering organization grows.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience with TypeScript and building web applications backed by relational databases.
• Proficiency in SQL and solid working knowledge of PostgreSQL (Supabase experience is a plus).
• Proven track record owning end‑to‑end CI/CD pipelines on GitHub.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Claude Code or equivalent AI‑assisted coding tools.
• Several years of senior‑level software engineering experience delivering features end‑to‑end.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross‑regional collaboration.
