Senior Site Agent – Building Construction

About the role

Our client, a leading construction firm in Cape Town, is looking for a Senior Site Agent to lead large‑scale building projects from inception to handover. The role is permanent and based on‑site, reporting to senior management and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex building construction projects, managing programme, quality, cost and safety targets.
• Oversee contract administration, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Negotiate contract variations, claims and dispute resolutions.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and project teams, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards.
• Identify and resolve technical and construction challenges, introducing innovative methods to improve efficiency.
• Monitor budgets, forecast financial performance and manage site resources.
• Develop and implement site‑specific safety management plans and ensure compliance with SHEQ policies and legislation.
• Conduct site inspections, manage risks proactively and mentor site personnel.
• Prepare progress reports and communicate performance to senior management.

Required profile

• BSc or BEng in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in building construction, with a proven track record on large and complex projects.
• Strong contract administration and commercial management experience.
• Excellent leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of South African construction legislation, contractual frameworks and health‑and‑safety requirements.
