Senior Renewable Energy Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Engineer to join our internationally recognised engineering and advisory organisation. Based in Cape Town, you will support the energy transition across Africa by delivering technical advisory services for utility‑scale wind, solar PV, hydro and battery energy storage projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver technical advisory and due‑diligence assignments for renewable energy projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, design reviews, and owner’s/independent engineering services.
• Review contracts, grid‑connection agreements and other technical documentation.
• Prepare client reports, presentations and recommendations.
• Participate in site visits, inspections and construction monitoring.
• Support business development and proposal activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in renewable energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of utility‑scale wind, solar, hydro and/or BESS projects.
• Experience in technical due‑diligence, owner’s engineering or consulting environments is advantageous.
• Excellent report writing, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally.
