Senior Professional Nurse – Clinical Risk & Patient Safety

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Senior Professional Nurse to support the Unit Manager in delivering safe, high‑quality patient care while mitigating clinical risks. The role combines direct patient care with mentorship of new and student nurses, ensuring a positive client experience across the unit.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by identifying and mitigating clinical risks and meeting quality standards.
• Manage the client experience and uphold patient safety protocols.
• Optimize staffing resources through recruitment, retention and effective utilisation.
• Develop and assess staff competence, providing continuous education and mentorship.
• Assist in managing operational expenses, including stock and capital resources.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing for specialist units (e.g., Peri‑operative Nursing).
• Minimum 3 years of professional nursing experience in a hospital setting.
• At least 1 year of mentorship experience.
