Senior Payroll Specialist – Hermon (Winelands)

About the role

An established agricultural business on a working farm in Hermon, Western Cape is looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist with a strong HR background. The role is office‑based on‑site and requires accurate, compliant payroll processing while supporting a range of HR functions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing, including weekly/monthly salaries, overtime, allowances, bonuses and deductions.
• Process new hires, terminations, salary changes, transfers and other employee movements.
• Maintain accurate employee and payroll records, including leave, time and attendance data.
• Reconcile third‑party payments, investigate discrepancies and prepare payroll reports for Finance and Management.
• Handle statutory payroll requirements (PAYE, UIF, SDL) and assist with EMP201, EMP501 and IRP5 submissions.
• Support year‑end and tax‑year payroll processes and internal/external payroll audits.
• Provide HR support such as onboarding/offboarding, contract administration, personnel file maintenance, leave administration and employee queries.

Required profile

• Reside in Hermon, Riebeek West, Riebeek Kasteel, Saron, Gouda, Porterville, Paarl, Wellington, Malmesbury or immediate surrounding area.
• Minimum 5 years of solid payroll experience, preferably at senior level.
• Proficiency in Sage Payroll (essential).
• Fluent in Afrikaans.
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
• Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s licence.
• Comfortable working on‑site in a farm environment.
