Senior Network & Systems Administrator

About the role

My client is seeking a Senior Network & Systems Administrator who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, securing business‑critical environments, and building reliable systems that keep hundreds of users connected and productive. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional who wants to own enterprise‑scale networks, influence infrastructure improvements, and work across a diverse technology environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, VLAN, Wi‑Fi and internet connectivity.
• Monitor network performance and proactively resolve infrastructure issues.
• Configure and support routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, access points and firewalls.
• Manage Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Support hybrid connectivity between on‑premise infrastructure and cloud services.
• Implement and maintain network security controls and secure remote‑access solutions.
• Manage Windows Server environments and virtualised infrastructure.
• Oversee backups, disaster‑recovery readiness, business‑continuity initiatives and system optimisation.
• Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations and improvement projects.
• Work closely with vendors, service providers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and technical support to junior IT team members.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in IT administration and networks.
• Strong networking experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols and VPN technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with firewalls, switches, wireless infrastructure, Mikrotik RouterOS and Microsoft technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Azure Active Directory and Hyper‑V.
• Experience with Windows Server 2019/2022, Windows 10/11 and virtualisation platforms.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools and network performance management.
• Excellent problem‑solving, troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills.
• High attention to detail, ability to perform under pressure and a self‑starter growth mindset.

What we offer

• Competitive salary between R550,000 and R600,000 per year.
