Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Our client, a leading engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead EPCM delivery and commissioning for large greenfield and brownfield projects, primarily in the mining and heavy‑industrial sector. The role is based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, with regular travel to Zimbabwe and on‑site responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering discipline and oversee commissioning activities from C1 to C5.
• Conduct technical evaluations of vendor proposals and manage vendor and contractor relationships.
• Manage technical risks and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Drive construction, commissioning and operational readiness for mining, minerals processing or heavy‑industrial plants.
• Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) or eligibility to obtain it.
• 12–15 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in mining, minerals processing or large industrial projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering EPCM projects.
• Experience with platinum processing plants is an advantage.
