Senior Manager Internal Audit

About the role

Komatsu is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager of Internal Audit to lead the internal audit function across its Southern African operations. This strategic position reports directly to executive management and is responsible for strengthening governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the audit strategy and annual audit plans aligned with Group objectives and regional risk environment.
• Lead, perform and oversee risk‑based internal audits and Japanese SOX audits across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia.
• Evaluate and enhance internal controls, governance processes and risk management systems.
• Identify inefficiencies, control gaps and risks, and recommend practical improvements.
• Monitor audit findings, follow‑up on corrective action plans and ensure timely resolution.
• Provide independent assurance to the Board of Directors, executive leadership and Group Internal Audit.
• Maintain a Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP) and conduct periodic internal assessments.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or a related field.
• Professional certification as CIA (essential) and CISA (beneficial).
• Minimum 10 years of internal audit experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Experience overseeing multi‑country audit programs, preferably in mining, manufacturing, heavy equipment or engineering sectors.
• Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, internal controls, governance practices and relevant regulations (Companies Act, King Code, IFRS, SOX, IIA standards).
• Willingness to travel within the Southern African region.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Office proficiency.
• Exposure to SAP.
