Senior Lecturer – Industrial Psychology

About the role

North-West University is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Industrial Psychology to join its School of Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management. The role involves delivering high‑quality teaching, supervising research students, and contributing to the faculty’s scholarly output.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Industrial Psychology.
• Supervise honours, master’s and PhD students, including thesis examination.
• Develop and update module content and related teaching materials.
• Perform teaching‑related administration and participate in quality‑enhancement initiatives.
• Publish peer‑reviewed articles, book chapters and monographs in reputable journals.
• Prepare and submit research funding applications.
• Present research findings at conferences and workshops.
• Engage in academic leadership, committee service and community‑engagement projects.

Required profile

• PhD (NQF Level 10) in Industrial Psychology or a closely related field.
• Registration as an Industrial Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Minimum three years of professional experience in Industrial Psychology.
• At least three years of research experience with a record of high‑quality publications in accredited journals.
• Three years of teaching experience at a recognised tertiary institution, with proven supervision of master’s students.
• Membership/registration with the SA Board for People Practices (SABPP) is an advantage.

Required skills

• Computer and digital literacy.
• Proficiency in data analysis software.
• Ability to facilitate learning effectively in a tertiary environment.
• Knowledge of assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance.
• Evidence of research productivity (at least two accredited publications in the past three years).
• Established research network and familiarity with postgraduate research processes.
