Senior Lecturer – Economic Sciences (Re-Advertisement)

About the role

The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at North-West University’s Potchefstroom campus is seeking a Senior Lecturer (grade A7) on a permanent basis. The role involves teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in economic sciences, supervising research, and contributing to the university’s research and community‑engagement agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate a range of learning activities, including lectures, tutorials, practical classes, workshops, and field excursions.
• Develop and continuously update course material to ensure relevance and academic rigor.
• Teach both undergraduate and postgraduate classes, employing effective teaching methods and strategies.
• Provide strong mentorship and supervision to postgraduate students engaged in coursework and research programmes.
• Monitor student success rates per module and take appropriate actions to support student throughput.
• Actively participate in research activities, produce peer‑reviewed outputs, and contribute to the research culture of the school.
• Engage in discipline‑related conferences, workshops, and excellence award programmes.
• Participate in community‑engagement initiatives that align with the university’s mission.

Required profile

• Expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of the department or faculty.
• Expected to contribute to scholarship, research and/or professional activities.
• Expected to share relevant skills and expertise in support of community‑engagement initiatives.
• Permanent appointment at grade A7.
