Senior Lecturer & Clinical Facility Manager – Family Medicine

About the role

The University of Pretoria seeks a Senior Lecturer who will also serve as Clinical Facility Manager at Daspoort Polyclinic. This dual role combines academic leadership in Family Medicine with responsibility for clinical governance and multidisciplinary team management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and govern the clinical facility, ensuring high‑quality primary health‑care delivery.
• Lead interprofessional education and multidisciplinary team activities.
• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervise registrar training and CPD programmes.
• Drive research initiatives and community engagement projects.
• Develop and sustain academic capacity and continuing professional development.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Family Medicine.
• At least three accredited publications.
• Minimum three years of teaching experience.
• Registration as a Family Physician with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Demonstrated ability to lead a large multidisciplinary clinical and academic team.
• Strong commitment to interprofessional education and collaborative practice.
• Excellent clinical skills in primary health‑care, including acute, chronic, mental health, substance use, geriatric, maternal and child health.
• Proactive, goal‑oriented leadership with a focus on professional development, including pursuit of a Doctoral degree if not already obtained.
