Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor – Biochemistry, Microbiology & Bioinformatics

About the role

The Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Bioinformatics seeks qualified candidates for a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor position. The role combines teaching, research, community engagement and academic leadership within the university.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in microbiology and related subjects.
• Supervise Master's and PhD research projects to completion.
• Develop and lead research programmes, publish findings and secure research grants.
• Engage with the community through outreach and collaborative initiatives.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university governance, including administrative and leadership duties.

Required profile

• PhD in Microbiology or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Research expertise in at least one of the following areas: parasitology, immunology, vaccinology or similar.
• Track record of peer‑reviewed publications and successful grant acquisition.
• Experience in research supervision (Master’s and/or PhD).
• Evidence of administrative, management or leadership responsibilities in an academic setting.
