Senior Labour Attorney

About the role

Our client, a well‑established specialist labour law firm in Pretoria, is seeking a Senior Labour Attorney to strengthen its legal team. The role involves delivering expert advice, representing clients in labour disputes, and managing employment law matters from consultation through to litigation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist legal advice on employment and labour law matters, ensuring compliance with legislation.
• Draft and review employment contracts, policies, disciplinary procedures and related documentation.
• Chair disciplinary hearings and internal workplace enquiries, advising on misconduct, incapacity and retrenchment.
• Represent clients in CCMA conciliations, arbitrations and related proceedings.
• Manage litigation matters, including drafting Labour Court pleadings, urgent applications and appearing in court.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering regular updates and ensuring client satisfaction.

Required profile

• LLB degree (required); LLM specialising in Employment or Labour Law (advantageous).
• Minimum of 5 years post‑admission experience as an attorney.
• Proven specialist experience in employment and labour law, including CCMA and labour‑court matters.
• Strong drafting skills for legal pleadings, contracts and policies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and work independently.
