Senior HR Generalist

About the role

This senior HR Generalist position supports a fast‑growing AI infrastructure tech company in South Africa. You will own end‑to‑end people operations, ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and partner with leadership, Legal, Finance and People teams to deliver a seamless employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full employee lifecycle – onboarding, off‑boarding, role changes and leave – within a PEO environment.
• Maintain and improve compliance processes, including state registrations, policy updates, mandatory training and audit readiness.
• Administer benefits, act as primary contact for brokers and external HR/PEO providers.
• Support total rewards activities such as offer letter creation, compensation benchmarking and collaboration with Finance and Legal.
• Handle employee‑relations cases, including performance issues, accommodations, conflict resolution and separations.
• Partner with legal counsel on sensitive matters to ensure proper documentation and risk mitigation.
• Assist performance cycles, manager coaching and people programs like engagement surveys.
• Own HR data accuracy, reporting and HRIS integrity for metrics such as headcount and attrition.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of experience as an HR Generalist or HR Operations professional, preferably in fast‑growing tech or startup environments.
• Experience working with a PEO or multi‑state employment structure (e.g., Justworks, Rippling).
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage employee‑relations cases with professionalism and emotional intelligence.
• Excellent written communication and meticulous documentation skills.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with Legal, Finance, Operations and leadership teams.
• High level of discretion handling confidential information.
