Senior Director, Business Transformation - Corporate Finance

About the role

FTI Consulting is a global expert firm for organisations facing crisis and transformation, working with multinationals, law firms, banks and private equity firms. Its Business Transformation practice sits within the Corporate Finance group and covers strategic, operational, financial and capital needs of corporations, boards, private equity sponsors and creditors. At a mid-management level, Directors are client-facing members of project teams who deliver high-quality reports, recommendations and analyses, lead other consultants and own workstreams under the guidance of the senior team. The role is based in the FTI Cape Town or Johannesburg office, with frequent client-site work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage project teams and work with clients on the execution of engagements
• Develop recommendations based on high-quality financial and operational reviews and modelling
• Track and analyse market trends and company financials, and identify ways to improve operational performance
• Identify risks and downsides and propose mitigating actions
• Build pragmatic, implementable strategies and business plans backed by solid analysis
• Drive client implementation, including programme management and issue resolution across multiple initiatives
• Write reports for senior audiences and present work to C-suite clients
• Develop, coach and mentor junior consultants

Required profile

• Experience leading a significant number of engagements with multiple workstreams in a top-tier management consultancy across sectors and functions
• Degree in Finance or Engineering; professional certification an advantage
• Demonstrable project experience in fast-paced, high-impact environments (performance improvement, turnaround, business plan review, due diligence, carve-out, integration, implementation)
• Experience leading short, high-intensity projects with tight deadlines and longer-term engagements
• Industry experience (consumer goods, retail, petroleum, transportation and logistics, financial services) is an advantage
• Experience managing projects operationally (resourcing, financials, ways of working) and supporting business development
• Fluent English speaker and writer; international exposure an advantage

• Excellent written communication, including client-ready PowerPoint decks for senior audiences
• Comfort with unfamiliar content areas and with incomplete data
• Flexibility for travel and disruptive hours
