Senior DevOps Engineer – Cape Town

About the role

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a high‑performance team in Bellville, Cape Town. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, taking ownership of infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and client‑facing solutions. The role requires strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for continuous learning.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure seamless client support by meeting or exceeding service‑level objectives.
• Mentor team members, provide technical guidance, and coordinate training initiatives.
• Assess and improve DevOps processes, delivering monthly performance and project reports.
• Maintain best practices in CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and IaC.
• Lead development initiatives for new client requirements, system enhancements, and process automation.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certification and a valid Code B driver’s licence with own transport.
• 4+ years of IT infrastructure management experience.
• 3‑5 years hands‑on experience with Linux and Windows servers, networking, and software development/scripting.
• 1‑2 years experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Ansible, Docker, and infrastructure automation.

Required skills

• Linux (RHEL/CentOS), Windows Server, Cisco (CCNA), Mikrotik, Networking+.
• Scripting languages: NodeJS, Perl, Bash, Python, PHP.
• Version control and collaboration tools: Git, Jira.
• Configuration management: Ansible, Terraform.
• Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes (or other orchestration).
• Virtualisation: VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM.
• Database technologies: SQL, NoSQL.
• API development: REST, JSON, XML, YAML.
