Senior DevOps Engineer – AWS Banking Platform

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Senior DevOps Engineer to join our AWS‑native banking platform in Johannesburg. The role focuses on building and operating the automation, tooling and pipelines that enable development teams to deliver software safely and efficiently in a PCI‑DSS regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain end‑to‑end CI/CD pipelines that move code from commit to production.
• Automate provisioning and configuration of AWS workloads using Infrastructure as Code, ensuring environments are reproducible, version‑controlled and auditable.
• Develop and operate deployment automation, release tooling and self‑service templates that improve developer experience while preserving compliance.
• Integrate security and compliance checks, secrets management and access controls into the delivery workflow.
• Work across the AWS estate (EC2, RDS, EKS, ECS, Load Balancers, Secrets Manager, KMS, Service Catalog) and on‑premise systems where required.
• Apply networking and security fundamentals (routing, segmentation, security groups, DNS, TLS) to design secure, operable environments.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, security engineers and platform teams to ensure reliable delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and operating DevOps tooling in large, regulated enterprises.
• Strong understanding of PCI‑DSS or similar compliance frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience with Site Reliability Engineering concepts is a plus.
