Senior Developer

About the role

This senior developer position is with a leading payments provider in Stellenbosch, focusing on high‑performance, real‑time transaction processing. The role combines hands‑on coding with technical leadership and mentorship opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical integration of new clients into the payments platform.
• Design, develop, test and maintain new and existing system functionality.
• Perform bug fixes, system enhancements and ongoing maintenance.
• Implement new features and capabilities while ensuring security, compliance and audit readiness.
• Provide third‑line support for complex technical queries.
• Continuously improve development processes and best practices.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical direction.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Software Development, Computer Science or Engineering.
• 8+ years of development experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with Java (Standard & Enterprise Editions) and Spring Boot.
• Proficiency in SQL databases such as MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Eclipse or NetBeans IDEs, Maven and Git.
• Background in continuous integration and testing environments.
• Understanding of OpenAPI protocols and Agile (Scrum/Kanban) frameworks.
