Senior Design Engineer – Solar PV

About the role

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy in the renewable energy sector, is looking for a Senior Design Engineer specialized in Solar PV to strengthen its Cape Town operations. You will provide high‑quality technical input across design and development stages, ensuring projects meet international standards and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project activities with the India office to ensure timely delivery and quality.
• Develop initial PV system concepts, including technology assessment, tilt‑pitch optimisation, DC overload analysis, long‑term energy yield analysis and project economics for optimal LCOE.
• Lead and manage advisory assignments on renewable energy projects, supporting feasibility studies and large‑scale (200 MW+) designs.
• Prepare and review technical reports, project documentation and client presentations.
• Conduct site visits in the African region, gather design data and identify implementation risks.
• Maintain awareness of new product technologies and support business development activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in renewable energy consulting, with at least one year in a consulting role.
• Proven supervisory experience and ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of the full project lifecycle from feasibility to execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; French is a plus.
