Senior Consulting Engineer - Data Migration

About the role

MongoDB is hiring a Senior Consulting Engineer to join its global team remotely. The role is highly strategic and focuses on the technical architecture behind data migrations: guiding enterprise clients in moving their production environments from traditional relational or legacy NoSQL databases to the MongoDB ecosystem. It also involves building and scaling AI-driven tooling that automates and optimizes these transitions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end technical delivery of migration projects, from architectural assessment to final handover.
• Act as a trusted advisor, spotting technical hurdles early and giving clear, actionable advice to stakeholders.
• Design, implement and maintain Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines for seamless data synchronization.
• Build and iterate on AI-powered internal tools that speed up the migration lifecycle.
• Work with cross-functional technical teams to resolve bottlenecks in real time.
• Present complex technical strategies to engineering teams and non-technical business decision-makers.

Required profile

• At least five years of professional experience in data or software engineering.
• Formal qualification such as a Computer Science degree or a related technical diploma.
• Professional fluency in German, as the role involves significant client interaction in European markets.
• Ability to explain intricate technical details to varied audiences.

Required skills

• NoSQL databases, including Azure Cosmos DB and Apache Cassandra.
• Streaming technologies and data pipelines, especially Apache Kafka.
• Data modeling applied to large-scale, production-ready databases.
