Senior Communication Consultant

About the role

The Senior Communication Consultant will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager to shape and protect Old Mutual Insure’s reputation. This role focuses on strategic external communications, media relations, executive positioning, thought leadership and data‑driven communication programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and executing external communications plans that reinforce brand positioning and market authority.
• Translate strategic priorities into compelling narratives, media opportunities and stakeholder‑focused campaigns.
• Monitor emerging reputational risks and opportunities across the insurance landscape, including climate risk, AI, fraud and innovation.
• Support media relations by building relationships with journalists, trade publications and industry platforms, and pitching stories and opinion pieces.
• Provide executive positioning and thought‑leadership support for the CEO and EXCO members.
• Contribute to communications governance, crisis readiness and the adoption of analytics, reputation intelligence and AI‑enabled tools.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in corporate communications, public relations or media relations.
• Proven ability to craft strategic narratives and manage reputation‑focused programmes.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills and experience working with senior executives.
