Senior CNC Milling Setter

About the role

We are an engineering company based in Cape Town looking for an experienced Senior CNC Milling Setter to join our team in Alberton. You will be responsible for preparing and running specialised gear‑cutting and second‑operations equipment, ensuring first‑time‑right setups and stable production.

Key responsibilities

• Collect component layouts, verify documentation and set up specialised gear‑cutting and milling machinery.
• Perform first‑off approvals, minimise set‑up scrap and segregate it from production parts.
• Manufacture, assemble and maintain single‑function tooling, press fixtures and pneumatic tools.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, corrective adjustments and routine maintenance on machines and tooling.
• Gather gauges, ensure calibration, submit first‑off samples for inspection and act on feedback.
• Maintain a safe, hazard‑free work area and uphold 5S housekeeping standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and train less‑experienced operators.
• Communicate setup status and issues clearly with the Team Leader and operators.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in CNC milling and gear‑cutting machine setup.
• Strong mechanical understanding of equipment behaviour under load.
• Ability to train and coach operators on standardised work and IMDS checks.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
