Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a New Zealand‑based accountancy firm on a fully remote basis. You will manage a portfolio of clients, ensure tax compliance and support the development of junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements for a diverse client portfolio.
• Manage VAT returns and ensure timely, accurate tax compliance.
• Oversee and mentor junior accountants, providing guidance and feedback.
• Liaise directly with clients on financial and tax matters.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Support process improvements and promote best practices within the accounting team.
• Stay up to date with changes in tax legislation and accounting standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of VAT and tax regulations.
• Proven experience preparing financial statements.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or an equivalent qualification.
• Proficiency in Xero is advantageous.

What we offer

• Competitive salary ranging from R35,000 to R50,000 per month.
