Security Officer – Access Control & Patrol

About the role

The Security Department at SA Metal’s Secunda Branch is seeking diligent Security Officers to manage access control, conduct searches, and patrol assigned areas. The role ensures the safety of personnel, visitors, and assets while maintaining compliance with company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Control access and egress at all SA Metal property by completing registers and operating gates.
• Search pedestrians, vehicles, and personal belongings of anyone exiting the premises.
• Issue and collect personal protective equipment (PPE) for customers and visitors.
• Verify that items leaving the site are accompanied by appropriate documentation.
• Conduct breathalyzer tests for staff before granting access, as required.
• Patrol assigned areas at regular intervals and report any suspicious activities.
• Ensure strict adherence to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 qualification.
• Grade C, PSIRA registered.
• 2‑3 years of relevant security experience.
• Hard‑working, self‑motivated, trustworthy and punctual.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time‑management and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to work extended hours and provide good customer service.

Required skills

• PSIRA registration (Grade C).
