Scraper Winch Operator

About the role

The Scraper Winch Operator works on a shift basis in a panel area of our mining operation, ensuring panels are cleaned and prepared for blasting. Reporting to the Crew Captain and Mining Team Supervisor, you will support safe and efficient ore movement at the Amandelbult Complex.

Key responsibilities

• Perform effective panel cleaning and support activities.
• Report abnormal activities to the Crew Captain, Stoper, Developer or Mining Team Supervisor.
• Assist during breakdowns or emergencies.
• Participate in safety and other required meetings.
• Ensure panel safety, support early entry/exit inspections, and manage bar face.
• Clean the face, including winch and scraper set‑ups.
• Clean gully to box to enable effective logistics and ore movement.
• Maintain two‑way communication with team members.
• Support measurement of mining activities.
• Enable panel operators to blast the panel in the next shift.
• Facilitate safe and effective delivery of material and cleaning of box holes.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent (advantageous) and NQF Level 3.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Completed scraping training module.
• Completed basic panel assistant maintenance course.
• Mechanical/technical aptitude.
