About the role

This entry‑level position supports the accounting team in delivering accurate financial records, preparing reports and ensuring tax compliance for a portfolio of clients. It offers practical exposure to accounting standards and the opportunity to develop skills toward SAIPA professional qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of client financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
• Perform monthly bookkeeping tasks, including transaction capture, bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
• Conduct basic financial analysis, identify trends or discrepancies and provide insights under supervision.
• Help prepare and submit VAT, PAYE and income‑tax returns, adhering to relevant legislation.
• Support the preparation of management accounts and periodic reporting schedules.
• Engage with clients on queries, explain financial information and provide general accounting assistance.
• Collaborate with senior accountants and team members to meet deadlines and maintain high‑quality deliverables.

Required profile

• Degree in accounting or finance (completed or in progress) with audit as a subject.
• Aspiration to become a SAIPA‑registered Professional Accountant.
• No prior work experience required.
• Own reliable vehicle for occasional client visits.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Pastel and Xero accounting software.
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
