Safety and Fleet Manager

About the role

The Safety and Fleet Manager provides on‑the‑ground technical and operational support to ensure the company complies with occupational health and safety legislation, road transport regulations, and internal safety policies. This role drives regional safety performance, fleet availability, and risk mitigation across all business units.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the zone/business unit safety and fleet strategy and monitor performance.
• Track regional fleet and safety metrics, develop corrective actions, and report to senior leadership.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, National Road Traffic Act, and related municipal bylaws.
• Maintain relationships with local authorities and coordinate regular interaction routines.
• Provide sustainable fleet support to warehouses, Tier 2 and Tier 1 truck services, and commercial operations.
• Lead safety initiatives, roll out DPO safety/fleet pillars, and develop regional safety standards.
• Oversee accurate reporting of SIF, fatalities, and incidents via CR360.
• Manage internal audits, close findings, and coordinate legal and SHE training.
• Ensure fleet master data accuracy in SAP, plan licensing and load‑testing to avoid equipment downtime.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety and fleet management within a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of OHS legislation, Road Transport Act, and related compliance codes.
• Ability to build effective relationships with authorities and internal stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills with a focus on risk mitigation.
