Rework Technician

About the role

The Rework Technician ensures that inline rework activities on the assembly line are performed efficiently, minimizing downtime while maintaining product quality. Working closely with production operators, quality assurance, engineering and maintenance, you will coordinate corrective actions and drive continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage inline rework areas, optimizing space and resources without disrupting production schedules.
• Prioritise and coordinate rework tasks based on urgency, quality impact and demand.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to triage non‑conforming parts, document defects and track corrective actions.
• Lead on‑floor containment and immediate corrective actions to prevent recurrence during the shift.
• Facilitate root‑cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) with operators, QA and engineering, and develop standard work instructions and checklists.
• Escalate chronic issues to Production, Maintenance or Supply Chain and ensure resolution.
• Track key performance indicators such as rework rate, cycle time, scrap rate and downtime, and generate regular performance reports.

Required profile

• Minimum NDip or equivalent in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, or an artisan technical certification.
• 1‑3 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly or quality environments, with exposure to line operations and rework processes.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities, and effective communication on the shop floor.
• Passion for quality, problem‑solving and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Quality Management Software.
• Ability to perform data entry and generate performance reports.
• Knowledge of root‑cause analysis techniques such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
