Revenue Accountant

About the role

The Laingsburg Municipality seeks a Revenue Accountant to join its Finance and Compliance Services Division. The role involves managing revenue enhancement, credit control, and financial reporting for the municipality.

Key responsibilities

• Administer revenue enhancement and credit control policies in line with legislative requirements.
• Process debt collection, verify bank and cash reconciliations, and analyse transactional records.
• Prepare statistical cash‑flow reports and support the consolidation of income information for financial statements.
• Interact with internal and external auditors, providing documentation and explanations for account adjustments.
• Generate debtor age analysis, issue rate certificates, and supervise prepaid services and indigent verification processes.

Required profile

• A relevant 3‑year tertiary qualification (National Diploma or BCom with financial accounting major).
• 2‑5 years of revenue accounting experience in a municipal environment.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence and literacy in at least two official Western Cape languages.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with the MS Office package.
• Experience using the Consolidated Billing System and MSCOA.
• Good working knowledge of local government legislation (e.g., MSA, MFMA).

What we offer

• Salary range R391,643.04 – R508,373.52 per annum (Post Level T12).
