Retail Assistant Manager

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Retail Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our well‑established fabric and linen store serving the Protea Glen and Southgate areas. You will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure smooth store performance and an excellent customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing day‑to‑day store operations and maintain high service standards.
• Supervise, motivate and develop the sales team to meet performance targets.
• Oversee stock control processes, including receiving, inventory counts and stock takes.
• Maintain visual merchandising, housekeeping and store presentation standards.
• Handle cash‑ups, administrative tasks and support the Store Manager in achieving sales goals.
• Step in to lead the store during the Store Manager’s absence.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of supervisory or assistant management experience in retail.
• Experience in linen, fabric, homeware, textile or a similar retail environment is advantageous.
• Strong leadership, communication and customer‑focused attitude.
• Reliable, honest and willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy.
