Restaurant Manager – Dinner Service

About the role

The President Hotel is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead its dinner service operation. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences in a high‑volume, luxury environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the entire dinner service from pre‑service briefing to close.
• Oversee reservations, table allocations, service flow and guest experience.
• Welcome guests, host VIPs and coordinate special occasions and dietary requirements.
• Coach, mentor and develop the front‑of‑house team.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and kitchen brigade to ensure seamless service.
• Drive revenue through personalised guest engagement and strategic upselling.
• Manage shift scheduling, performance standards and daily operational procedures.
• Maintain hygiene, food safety and compliance standards, and resolve guest concerns professionally.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12; hospitality qualification or hotel school diploma (advantageous).
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Restaurant Manager in a 4‑star/5‑star hotel, luxury restaurant or fine‑dining setting.
• Proven ability to manage high‑volume dinner service.
• Strong food & beverage knowledge, including wine pairings and cocktails.
• Experience with restaurant reservation and POS systems.
• Familiarity with hotel systems such as Opera PMS (advantageous).
• Excellent communication, leadership and guest‑relations skills.
• South African citizenship or a valid work permit; ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
