Restaurant General Manager

About the role

Life & Brand Portfolio is looking for an experienced Restaurant General Manager to lead the Grand Africa Cafe & Beach located at the V&A Waterfront. The successful candidate will be accountable for overall restaurant performance, ensuring smooth operations across front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operational requirements and maintain store hygiene, maintenance, health and safety standards.
• Supervise and manage front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house staff, delegating tasks to junior managers.
• Control beverage and food costs, manage stock levels and ensure they stay within specified ranges.
• Be on duty during busy shifts, weekends and all functions, providing hands‑on leadership.
• Facilitate effective communication between staff and management and ensure timely reporting.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in a similar restaurant management role, preferably in a high‑volume environment.
• Strong leadership, delegation and performance‑management abilities.
• High attention to detail, process‑driven mindset and ability to work under pressure.
• Integrity, discretion and the capacity to handle cash and financial responsibilities.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word.
