Restaurant General Manager

About the role

Founders Arms is launching a modern neighbourhood pub and restaurant in Pinelands, Cape Town. The General Manager will own the day‑to‑day operations, leading the front‑of‑house team and partnering with the Head Chef and owners to deliver a consistent, high‑quality guest experience across all service periods.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily restaurant and bar operations, ensuring smooth service during lunch, after‑work, dinner, live sport and Sunday lunch.
• Lead, coach and schedule a front‑of‑house team of approximately 10 members.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef and owners on menu execution, supplier selection and inventory control.
• Drive financial performance, including budgeting, cost control and revenue optimisation.
• Manage recruitment, training and pre‑opening planning to build a strong operational foundation.
• Maintain high standards of guest experience, health & safety, and compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a full‑service restaurant or pub environment.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the capacity to shape a venue from its first day of trading.
• Ability to work autonomously while aligning with ownership’s strategic direction.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
