Responsible Pharmacist (RP) – Regulatory Compliance

About the role

Our client, a leading fine chemicals company in Gauteng, is seeking a Responsible Pharmacist (RP) to ensure regulatory compliance across all pharmaceutical operations. You will act as the appointed pharmacist under SAPC regulations, safeguarding the company’s licence and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Responsible Pharmacist in accordance with SAPC regulations.
• Maintain compliance with the Pharmacy Act, Medicines and Related Substances Act, Good Pharmacy Practice and related standards.
• Oversee procurement, storage, and distribution of medicines and scheduled substances, including temperature‑controlled processes.
• Develop, implement and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Quality Management System.
• Lead internal audits, CAPAs, inspections and manage product recalls.
• Investigate deviations, product complaints and non‑conformances.
• Maintain statutory documentation, controlled‑drug registers and the company’s pharmacy licence.
• Provide regulatory guidance to Operations, Warehouse, Procurement and Quality teams.
• Manage import/export regulations and hazardous‑chemical handling where applicable.
• Conduct supplier qualification and drive risk‑management initiatives across the supply chain.

Required profile

• Registered Pharmacist with SAPC.
• 3‑5 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or chemical environment.
• Strong knowledge of auditing, regulations and quality management systems.
• Proven experience in SOP development and implementation.
• Excellent understanding of pharmaceutical legislation and compliance standards.
