Residence Assistant – Student Liaison Officer

About the role

The Residence Assistant, also known as a Student Liaison Officer, supports the student accommodation community by acting as the primary point of contact between the institution and its residents. Based in Cape Town, the role involves welcoming students and visitors, handling phone enquiries, and providing general administrative support to ensure a smooth residential experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and assist students, visitors, and callers in a professional manner.
• Perform day‑to‑day administrative duties for student housing, including record keeping and correspondence.
• Support the Student Life Manager with year‑end functions, awards, and special initiatives.
• Help students with rental payment queries and coordinate arrears management with the Property Administrator.
• Assist the Property Manager and Property Administrator in student retention activities.
• Provide general office support to the entire residence team as needed.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification; a diploma or degree in Office Administration is advantageous.
• 2–4 years of experience in a receptionist or administrative role.
• Strong communication and customer‑service orientation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
