Reliability Engineer

About the role

Our client in Brits, near Rustenburg, is seeking a Reliability Engineer to lead the reliability and maintenance strategy for their mining assets. The role focuses on reducing operational risk, improving equipment availability and supporting production targets through robust asset management practices.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage asset reliability risks and the operation and maintenance of equipment and systems.
• Develop, optimise and implement maintenance strategies, including Loss Elimination and Life Cycle Asset Management programmes.
• Lead regular inspections of mining equipment and structures, assess equipment health and recommend corrective actions.
• Analyse operational data using a CMMS and data‑driven tools to drive continuous improvement.
• Support strategic planning by preparing operational plans and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Engineering (NQF 6) with Trade Test/S4/T3; a BSc in Engineering is advantageous.
• 5–8 years combined experience as a maintenance planner or supervisor, with acting experience at Maintenance Superintendent or General Engineering Supervisor level.
• Valid National Road Act driver’s licence (Code E/EB).
• Working towards a Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works) and holding relevant certifications such as Reliability‑Centred Maintenance Management and CMMS Life‑Cycle Cost.
