Laboratory Analyst – Technical

About the role

Alfred H Knight is seeking a Laboratory Analyst – Technical to join the Rustenburg team. You will provide day‑to‑day technical and quality support to the laboratory, ensuring precise and accurate analytical results and a high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Apply good laboratory practice principles to guarantee accuracy and precision in all methods.
• Follow documented procedures for work throughput and report any non‑compliance to the Laboratory Technical Manager.
• Manage workload efficiently and control stock levels of chemicals, consumables and equipment spares.
• Prepare and verify ICP calibration and internal standards; ensure equipment verification, maintenance and timely reporting of deviations.
• Assist senior analysts and chemists with instrument troubleshooting and update calibration schedules.
• Record ICP equipment breakdowns, test scrubber pH, and support QC monitoring and proficiency testing (PT) sample analysis.
• Analyse production and validation samples using titration and ICP‑OES, maintain auditable records, and review results in Lab Create.
• Maintain clean work areas and adhere to safety regulations.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
• Diploma in Analytical Chemistry.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory.
