Registered Nurse X3 - Surgical ICU

About the role

A private hospital in Lenasia, Johannesburg, is recruiting three Registered Nurses for its Surgical ICU. The nurse delivers safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and provides direct and/or indirect nursing care, assessment, planning, execution and supervision of care to meet patient needs.

Key responsibilities

• Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and take full responsibility for these activities.
• Communicate effectively with doctors about patient requirements.
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients and attend the handover report at the start of each shift.
• Communicate clearly with patients about their care and promote their health and wellbeing.
• Audit health records to ensure compliance.
• Ensure all stock is well controlled, managed, charged and credited appropriately.
• Promote and maintain good relations with patients, relatives and visitors.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience working in a Surgical ICU.
• Capacity to implement and maintain health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation.
• Flexibility to work varying hours and shifts.
