Registered Nurse - Medical Ward

About the role

Zamokuhle Private Hospital, advertised through Lenmed, is looking for a Registered Nurse for its Medical / Surgical department. The nurse delivers safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and provides direct and/or indirect nursing care to patients or groups of patients, assessing, planning, executing and supervising care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in line with the scope of practice and take full responsibility for it
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients and promote their health and wellbeing
• Attend handover at shift start and give a detailed handover to the ward sister
• Recognise life-threatening situations and communicate clearly with patients about their care
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Control and manage stock so that it is charged and credited correctly
• Maintain good relations with patients, relatives and visitors

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or Midwife, or an equivalent NQF 7 qualification
• Experience in a medical ward
• Flexibility to work different hours and shifts
• Ability to uphold health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation

Required skills

• Compulsory Basic Life Support (BLS); PALS is advantageous
• Advanced computer literacy
