Regional Site Manager

About the role

The Regional Site Manager will lead rail operations at our Northern Cape office, ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality service delivery. Reporting to senior management, you will coordinate with clients, supervise staff and maintain compliance with industry safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with management and clients, monitoring service quality and operational performance.
• Provide oversight on network changes, collaborate with industry experts and third‑party contractors.
• Maintain the Safety Management System (SPCAM) in line with the Rail Safety Regulator, conduct risk assessments and revise SOPs.
• Lead incident/accident reporting, safety inspections and compliance audits.
• Supervise train drivers, assistants, shunters and other subordinates, handling training, rostering, disciplinary actions and medical fitness.
• Plan and monitor locomotive services, manage spare‑part inventories, service records and unplanned maintenance.
• Oversee fleet vehicle maintenance, licensing, fuel usage and road‑worthiness.
• Liaise with procurement and stores to order spares, conduct stock‑takes and maintain accurate records.
• Support overall site administration, including financial reporting and petty‑cash management.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• Diploma/Certificate in Train Driver Duties, Diesel‑Electric Locomotive operation and Compressed Air Brake System.
• Minimum 5 years rail operations experience and at least 3 years in a Section Manager or higher role.
• Experience with heavy‑haul compressed‑air brake trains and locomotive technical knowledge is advantageous.
