Rebate Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Rebate Accountant to join our Group Finance team. The role focuses on management accounting, supplier rebate accounting, financial reporting and forecasting, and driving efficiencies across the Group.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly Group journals and prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Produce accurate monthly financial reports.
• Ensure supplier agreements align with company policies on creditor terms and rebates, updating the ERP system as needed.
• Maintain productive relationships with suppliers and the merchandise team.
• Calculate and post rebate accrual journals and reconcile them with actual rebates received.
• Invoice suppliers promptly for rebates and ensure timely collection.
• Forecast and track volume rebates, driving efficiencies through cross‑functional projects.
• Assist with standardisation and monitoring of financial accounting policies, procedures and processes across Group companies.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• B.Compt (Hons) with articles.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience managing supplier rebates in a retail, wholesale, FMCG or similar commercial environment.
