Real Estate Accountant – Full‑Cycle Contractor

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with real‑estate experience to join its growing back‑office team. You will work as an independent contractor, handling full‑cycle accounting for multiple clients while delivering accurate, timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for several real‑estate clients, including AP/AR, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations, addressing discrepancies proactively.
• Perform job costing, project accounting and budget‑to‑actual analysis as required.
• Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, liaising with external tax advisors and assisting with audit requests.
• Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal teams, offering insights to improve financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to boost accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, specifically within the real‑estate sector.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
• Fluent English (B2+), comfortable communicating with high‑profile clients.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.
